First Baptist Church of El Paso (IL) is searching for a Christ-centered and Spirit-led person who can lead and inspire our congregation in worship of the Triune God. ABOUT FBC Our congregation has been a vital part of our small town for over 160 years. As we honor God’s work in the past, we now look for someone to lead us into the future in our worshipping life. Quality worship is valued by our members. We are blessed with several talented musicians who are passionate about sharing their gifts. Worship music at FBC is typically blended (~70/30 traditional hymnody/contemporary hymns and songs) but we are open to various musical expressions.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION The worship coordinator oversees the integration of musical elements to our weekly worship service. The role includes rehearsing and coordinating various musical ensembles throughout the year, including weekly worship team and seasonal choir ensembles. While there are no set hours, the responsibility typically requires 5-10 hours per week. Applicants must be available Sunday mornings 9:30am to 12pm During choir season (approximately Sep to Christmas and Feb to Easter, pre-COVID), applicants should also have a weeknight free for rehearsals (preferably Wednesdays) Holiday obligations: Good Friday, Easter morning, and Christmas Eve (midnight service at 11pm)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES ~ Work with pastor and pianist to organize weekly congregational worship ~ Lead weekly congregational singing ~ Rehearse with ensembles as scheduled ~ Coordinate special music as appropriate ~ Design special services (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve) with leadership team ~ Be willing to use your gifts to encourage others in the congregation

QUALIFICATIONS ~ Genuine Christian faith, committed to following Jesus Christ ~ Background in vocal and instrumental music ~Basic conducting/rehearsal skills ~ Team player and servant leader ~ Familiar with diverse faith-based musical expressions ~ Passionate about music as worship and devoted to caring for the church

 

COMPENSATION Monthly wage to be considered and negotiated during the selection process COVID-19 SAFETY Congregation and musicians wear masks during the musical parts of the service and when moving about the sanctuary and entryways. Masks and sanitizing stations posted at each entry. Interviews may be held over video-conferencing if preferred by the applicant.
